Ryan Routh, 58, was arrested on Sunday soon after what the FBI described as an “apparent” attempt to assassinate the former president at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Secret Service agents opened fire after spotting a rifle barrel sticking out of bushes several hundred metres from where Trump was playing golf. The suspect fled and was arrested 40 miles away.
Routh appeared in court charged with firearms offences after an alleged gunman was shot at by Trump’s bodyguards at a golf club in West Palm Beach
