The normally-bustling financial hub of Shanghai was brought to a standstill on Monday (Sept 16) as residents sheltered at home to wait out the worst of Typhoon Bebinca.

The Category 1 storm is the most powerful tropical cyclone to directly hit the city in more than seven decades.
