Ganesh Chaturthi is a popular Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. Celebrated with great enthusiasm, the festival typically lasts for 10 days, starting from the fourth day of the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada (August or September).People bring home beautifully crafted idols of Lord Ganesha and worship him with devotion, offering modaks (sweet dumplings), flowers, and prayers. Public pandals (temporary structures) are also set up, where larger idols are installed, and community prayers, cultural programs, and social gatherings take place. The festival culminates with the grand immersion (visarjan) of Ganesha idols in water bodies, symbolizing Lord Ganesha's return to Mount Kailash, taking away devotees' troubles with him. The immersion is accompanied by processions, music, and chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya."Ganesh Chaturthi is not only a religious event but also a cultural and social celebration, bringing people together to celebrate unity, faith, and community spirit.
