Chargers find strength in each other amid 'boos' from crowd
During the Akari Chargers introduction in their finals clash against the Creamline Cool Smashers, ear-splitting 'boos' were heard at the PhilSports Arena on the rainy night of Sept. 4, 2024. Surrounded by controversies before coming to the game due to their controversial win in the semifinals, and with 8,289 spectators mostly rooting for Creamline, it was all a mental game for the young Akari squad. Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Best Outside Hitter Grethcel Soltones shared that they expected this type of reception, and the best that they could do was to lean on each other. Creamline fended them off in straight sets in the finals, 15-25, 23-25, 17-25.
