Second album by American country singer Lawrence Reynolds from Mobile, Alabama. The title track was Reynolds only hit single, #28 on the U. S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1969. The album was very much of its time, in "Jesus is a soul man" Reynolds popularized a gospel sound and theme, and like Joe South and Henson Cargill, both of whom he covered on the album, Reynolds preferred even his non-religious tunes to preach a positive socio-political message. The album's sound mixes country funk and country rock harmonies with heavier rock guitar chords. On the album there is one of the first covers of the famous John Hurley & Ronnie Wilkins song "Love of the common people".
Life goes on.
Love of the common people.
Jesus is a soul man.
The snow's gonna fly.
I wanna live.
I'm a stranger and afraid.
Workin' man blues.
The chokin' kind.
The key is in the mailbox.
Don't it make you want to go home.
Skid a rope.
If God is dead.
