Gaetano Scirea (Cernusco sul Naviglio, 25 maggio 1953 – Babsk, 3 settembre 1989) è stato un calciatore italiano, di ruolo difensore.Giocava come libero, ruolo di cui è riconosciuto dalla stampa specializzata quale uno dei massimi interpreti nella storia del calcio.Elemento simbolo della Juventus allenata da Giovanni Trapattoni a cavallo degli anni 70 e 80 del XX secolo, nonché suo capitano dal 1983 al 1988, Scirea formò, assieme al portiere Dino Zoff, al marcatore Claudio Gentile e al terzino Antonio Cabrini – tutti e tre compagni sia di club sia di nazionale –, una delle migliori linee difensive nella storia della disciplina.Con i bianconeri vinse sette titoli di campione d'Italia, diventando al contempo, assieme al già citato Cabrini, il primo giocatore ad aver vinto tutte le maggiori competizioni UEFA per club; detenne inoltre per lungo tempo il record di presenze nella storia del club torinese, con 552 apparizioni. Con la maglia della nazionale italiana si laureò campione del mondo nel 1982.

He played as a libero, a role in which he is recognised by the specialist press as one of the greatest interpreters in the history of football. A symbolic element of the Juventus team coached by Giovanni Trapattoni between the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century, as well as its captain from 1983 to 1988, Scirea formed, together with the goalkeeper Dino Zoff, the goalscorer Claudio Gentile and the full-back Antonio Cabrini – all three teammates at both club and national team – one of the best defensive lines in the history of the discipline. With the Bianconeri he won seven titles of Italian champion, becoming at the same time, together with the aforementioned Cabrini, the first player to have won all the major UEFA club competitions; he also held the record for appearances in the history of the Turin club for a long time, with 552 appearances. Wearing the Italian national team jersey he became world champion in 1982.
