Jordan Chiles to lose Olympic bronze medal following rejection of Team USA's appeal by Court of Arbitration. USA Gymnastics revealed in a social media statement on Monday that the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected Chiles' appeal to reinstate her Bronze medal. Chiles originally placed fifth in the women's individual floor exercise final, until Coach Cecile Landi submitted an appeal that boosted her score to 13.766. Chiles then qualified for the podium, surpassing Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea. However on Saturday, August 10 the CAS backtracked on their decision, ruling in favor of Romania's appeal that Coach Landi submitted the challenge four seconds past the one minute deadline. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee has since claimed there is video evidence of Landi submitting the challenge within the allotted time, but the CAS rejected that appeal as of August 12, officially stripping Chiles of the Bronze.
