Local Scrap Iron Dealers who may have been fearful of another shutdown of their industry, have been given another reprieve by the Government.

The Trade and Industry Ministry announced today it has extended the licences granted to scrap iron dealers from August 15th to February 14th of next year, once they comply with the 2022 Scrap Metal Act.

The President of the Scrap Iron Dealers Association tells TV6 News his association is thankful for the extension.

However, he says there are still challenges licenced scrap iron dealers that the association would like to see addressed.
