Typhoon Gaemi Brings Rise in Melioidosis Bacterial Infections

Cases of a potentially deadly bacterial infection have risen in southern Taiwan after heavy rainfall brought by last month's typhoon. Melioidosis is spread through contact with contaminated soil, water or air. Three people are currently in intensive care with the disease.
