President Joe Biden is under increasing pressure from his own party to not seek re-election due to his debate performances against Donald Trump and his inability to unify the party. After testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, Biden has acknowledged that a serious medical condition could prompt him to reconsider his decision to stay in the race. If Biden withdraws before the Democratic convention in August, his pledged delegates can support another candidate. If he withdraws after the convention, the DNC chair would work with party leaders to select a replacement candidate. Vice President Kamala Harris is seen as the most likely replacement candidate.
