Lady Jane Grey had to relinquish her crown after only nine days as sovereign. Northumberland's coup had failed and he was executed just a day after Lady Jane gave up the crown. Lady Jane and her husband Guildford Dudley were sentenced to high treason however, they were not executed straight away.
