Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro called the man who was killed at a rally for former President Donald Trump a "hero."
Shapiro said on Sunday that Corey Comperatore was a former fire chief from the area who loved his family.
"Corey was a girl dad. Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community and most especially we loved his family. Corey was an avid supporter of the former president and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community.
Shapiro said his wife told him that Comperatore protected them when gunfire started at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
