Beef Karahi, also known as Beef Karahi Gosht or simply Beef Karahi, is a popular Pakistani and North Indian dish that features tender pieces of beef cooked with a blend of aromatic spices in a wok-like cooking vessel called a "karahi" or "kadai." The dish is known for its rich and robust flavors, making it a favorite among meat lovers.

Here's a basic recipe for Beef Karahi:

Ingredients:

500 grams of beef (boneless), cut into bite-sized pieces
2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, finely sliced
2-3 tomatoes, chopped
2-3 green chilies, split lengthwise
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 cup yogurt
1/2 tsp chili powder (adjust to your preference)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Fresh ginger, julienned, for garnish

Instructions:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large karahi or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
Include the cumin seeds and sizzle them for a few seconds. Then, add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Combine the ready ginger-garlic paste, yogurt and cook for 1-2 minute or until the raw smell disappears.
Add the beef pieces and brown them on all sides. This may take about 5-7 minutes.
Once the beef becomes browned, include the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook the mixture until the tomatoes soften and release their juices.
Lower the heat to medium, cover the karahi with a lid, and let the beef simmer in its juices for about 20-30 minutes or until it becomes tender. Stir occasionally and add a little water if needed to prevent sticking.
When the beef is cooked and the oil starts to separate from the masala, add garam masala and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Garnish your Beef Karahi with fresh coriander leaves and julienned ginger.
Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.

Beef Karahi is known for its bold and spicy flavors, and it's a delightful dish for those who enjoy the rich taste of well-spiced beef. You can easily adjust the spice levels based on your preference, and enjoy this delicious Pakistani and North Indian delicacy.
