When we talk about last-over finishers MS Dhoni, Michael Bevan and Lance Klusener’s names come to mind but on 10th April 2008 Shivnarine Chanderpaul did something that makes him a worthy entrant to the list of finishers. WI were chasing 236 and 13 were required off the last over with one wicket remaining. Chaminda Vaas, one of the bowling greats of Sri Lanka was handed the ball. He conceded only 3 runs in his first 4 balls swinging the tide in Sri Lanka’s favour, but Chanderpaul had other plans, he smashed the last two balls for a 4 and a six taking West Indies over the line and proving once again that great players can adapt according to the situation at hand.
