The federal government wants one in five of the country’s solar panels made in Australia. One billion dollars in subsidies is being poured into the tiny local industry, in the hope it could compete with Chinese competitors. But some working towards making Australia a renewable ‘superpower’ warns expensive, locally made panels might not help.
