Jurgen Klopp broke down in tears as Liverpool fans chanted his name during a farewell event in the city on Tuesday night.
The German boss left his role in charge of the club after their final Premier League campaign game on May 19 - but returned to the city for 'An Evening With Jurgen Klopp' - an event at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena.
The tribute visibly moved Klopp from Reds fans, as they sang in the event while saying goodbye to the 56-year-old, who left after nine years on the touchline.
Video footage shared on X showed Klopp overwhelmed by emotion as he took in the raucous noise of the crowd, who had just viewed an emotional montage of his time at Liverpool.
There was a significant amount of emotion, as the German wiped away the tears and took in the incredible response he received from supporters.
He then stood up and put his hand on his heart to acknowledge the support, before giving his famous fist pumps that he so often did while celebrating big victories as Liverpool manager.
Comedian John Bishop hosted the exclusive event, which was presented by Liverpool Football Club, with tickets costing £37.
The night before the event, Klopp flew back to Liverpool on a private jet with his wife Ulla.
When proceedings got underway at the arena on Tuesday, Klopp told the adoring Liverpool faithful that his decision to join the club back in 2015 was the second-best decision of his life.
'Aside from marrying Ulla, joining Liverpool was the best decision of my life,' Klopp told the crowd.
The 56-year-old jetted into Majorca with Ulla last week after the end of his commitments with the club - and was set to stay at a luxury five-star hotel in the Balearic Islands while construction work finishes on their new villa.
Meanwhile, Klopp revealed two weeks ago that his initial plans after leaving Liverpool were to have a holiday and go to the Champions League final to watch his former team Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund will be playing Real Madrid at Wembley on Saturday.
Back in January, Klopp announced his intention to walk away from Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season, after spending almost nine years in charge.
The farewell event at the city's arena started with a rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone performed by classical singer Alfie Boe, and also included a performance from The Lightning Seeds.
Klopp received rapturous applause from his admirers as he emerged on the stage.
Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold and celebrities Daniel Craig, Trevor Noah, Paddy Pimblett, and Will Arnett all sent thank you messages which were broadcast to the crowd too.
