Firefighters rush to battle the blazes left after Russian strikes on the centre of the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv injured 20 people on Tuesday, according to officials, with widespread damage to residential buildings and businesses. The city, just 30 kilometres (18 miles) from Russia's border, has faced intensifying aerial attacks in recent months, and a surprise Russian ground offensive in the wider Kharkiv region has forced thousands to evacuate and pushed Kyiv to mobilise reinforcements.
