NSW police to get 'wanding' powers to search for knives with no warrant or suspicion under proposed changes

In response to a series of violent attacks, the state government is proposing new legislation that would empower police with broader authority to conduct searches for knives. Under the proposed laws, police officers would have the ability to use metal-detection wands on individuals within designated areas at their discretion.
