The death toll following a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in Taiwan on Wednesday morning has risen to 12, local authorities said on Friday. As of 12:00 am, 1,106 people have been injured in the earthquake. A total of 682 people remain trapped, and 38 have yet to be located.
Rescuers have been searching for missing people. Hundreds of people were stranded when rocks and mud blocked the roads leading to their hotel, campground, or work site, though most were safe while they awaited rescue.
