Do you dread your car's annual MOT test? Well if you do, you're not alone. Research shows that almost half of UK drivers have feelings of anxiety or stress relating to their MOT test - and are more apprehensive about the annual test than they are going to the dentist or even completing their tax return. As the cost of living continues to have a huge impact on our daily lives, the same survey of UK motorists also found over two thirds of drivers have delayed fixing the problems identified in their last MOT – known as advisories – due to being unable to afford the repairs. The RAC suggests addressing the issues immediately as it will give you peace of mind that your vehicle is road legal and as safe as possible. Common advisories include tyre tread and depth, brake pads, lights, corrosion and general wear and tear - but would you be willing to take on any of these repairs yourself in order to save money? That's what a poll by eBay found motorists are turning to as costs rise: A third of UK adults are now looking to fix minor car issues themselves, rather than pay for a professional to do it. But we're being advised to ensure we know what we're doing before taking on the bigger jobs.
