The Senate passed the Property Tax Amendment Bill 2024, late last night...with One Independent Senator having voted against it and one Independent Senator voting in favour of it.

But after an Independent Senator raised a concern about the power of the Minister in the bill, the Finance Minister gave a committment that in the next Finance Act , he will "put a cap on the Maximum amount of property tax that any Minister of Finance will be able to impose."
