Someday Sweetheart - Irakli 1987
Irakli de Davrichewey and his Orchestra play Someday You’ll be Sorry. Recorded at the Jazz Festival d'Antibes France in 1987 trumpetplayer Irakli and his band manages to superbly master the style of Louis Armstrong's early All Stars. This band from France has an enormous amount of energy and combined with the technical knowledge and maximum intensity creates a very exciting approach to the former Louis All Stars music. Irakl does some incredible Louis oriented trumpet work both technically as well as tonally and emotionally. Next to him we hear clarinettist Stephane Gerrault who is able to create that wonderful feeling that Barney Bigard was able to give to Louis' band in the late 40's and 50's. Claude Cousset is playing a strong trombone. Pianist Pierre Calligaris falls nicely in a pianosolo in the Billy Kyle style. Bassist Frederic Legrande and drummer Michel Denis complete the hard swinging Rhythm group. Just a formidable and very together band!
I had posted two clips of this concert in 2007 on youtube and several of my friends cannot understand why there has been so little viewer attention to these clips with this incredible band. Well, a few more, we’ll see.
