The DOJ indicted Google software engineer Linwei Ding for stealing confidential AI technology from Google. Ding is accused of uploading over 500 files related to Google's AI data center hardware and software to his private Google Cloud account. Prosecutors allege Ding secretly started a tech startup in China while still employed at Google, and attended meetings there to raise funds. Ding pitched his China-based company, which was focused on AI, at an investor conference in November 2023.
