Mideast ceasefire efforts gain steam
International efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas gain momentum as the White House reports positive discussions during a visit by a senior envoy to Israel. Mediators plan to present a new proposal at an upcoming summit in Paris, with the US, Egypt, and Qatar working to find a solution before Ramadan begins. White House Mideast envoy Brett McGurk held talks with Israeli leaders and families of hostages held by Hamas, with early indications suggesting progress, according to spokesman John Kirby.
