Wales headlines 20 February: Procedures cancelled as junior doctors go on strike

Junior doctors across Wales are taking industrial action from Wednesday in a dispute over pay. Thousands will strike for three days until Saturday morning, with non-life threatening procedures cancelled until after the strike. The public have been told not to use hospitals unless necessary.

Tributes have been paid to a father of 7 mosque volunteer as another man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. 64 year old Fu’ad Hassan Yassin died after reports of a serious assault in Belmont Walk in Butetown just after 9am on Sunday. A 38 year old man has been held in police custody on suspicion of murder.

A 14 year old boy has been airlifted to hospital after getting trapped in a gully walking in Eryri on Sunday evening. The boy’s mother was forced to leave him to get signal to call for help, after he fell roughly 30 metres on Tryfan mountain. Rescuers say he was seriously injured but safely taken to hospital in Liverpool.
