Disney is investing $1.5 billion to take an equity stake in Epic Games, the company behind the popular video game Fortnite. This marks Disney's biggest investment in the gaming industry to date. Disney and Epic will work together to create new games and an "entertainment universe" where consumers can engage with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and other brands through gaming, watching content, and shopping. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said the companies will collaborate to "build a persistent, open, and interoperable ecosystem," bringing together Disney and Fortnite communities.
