When film star Marina Gregg buys Dolly Bantry's old country estate and moves her entourage to St Mary's Mead, there is huge interest among the villagers, epsecially when the village fete is held there. But while there, one of the guests falls ill and dies, and when an autopsy finds the victim was poisoned, a murder inquiry is launched. But were they the intended victim - or is someone else in serious danger?
This is from an old video recording of mine, first broadcast on TV on December 27th 1992, and the last of the Joan Hickson adaptations that people remember so well. Also in the cast (and suspect list) is Claire Bloom, Barry Newman, Norman Rodway, Elizabeth Garvie, Judy Cornwell, Glynnis Barber, Rose Keegan and Amanda Elwes (who was in so many things from 1989-94, but then seemed to disappear), plus regulars Gwen Watford, Barbara Hicks, with David Horowitch, John Castle, and Ian Brimble investigating the case.
