Jeff DeWit, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, resigned amid the release of a leaked audio recording between him and GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake. In the recording, DeWit discusses the possibility of keeping Lake out of the Senate race by offering her corporate jobs or payments. DeWit claims Lake threatened to release another damaging recording if he did not resign on Wednesday. The recording adds to turmoil within the Arizona GOP between establishment and pro-Trump factions. Lake is running in the 2024 Senate race to unseat independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
