A350 collision in Japan airport sparks investigation into runway communication

Authorities are investigating the collision between an A350 and a smaller coast guard plane on the runway of the Haneda Airport on Jan. 2, 2024, as revealed by traffic control communications. The investigation focuses on why the coast guard plane was on the runway, and although the JAL pilot and controllers might not have realized, the evacuation after the crash saved all 379 passengers and crew members of Flight 516, with the coast guard pilot suffering serious burns and five crew members losing their lives.
