Japan lowers tsunami alert but maintains coast evacuation
Japan lift its highest-level tsunami alert following a series of major earthquakes, including a magnitude 7.6 quake that caused fires and building collapses on the west coast of Honshu. Residents in coastal areas were warned not to return home due to the ongoing threat of deadly waves, with uncertainties regarding the extent of casualties from more than a dozen strong quakes reported in the Japan Sea.
