In a bid to protect commercial shipping from attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels, several countries have joined forces to carry out patrols in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, during his visit to Bahrain, announced the establishment of Operation Prosperity Guardian, a multinational security initiative aimed at addressing the rising threats in the region.
