The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that former President Donald Trump can remain on Michigan's 2024 Republican primary ballot. The court upheld previous rulings from two lower courts that rejected an appeal trying to remove Trump from the ballot. The group Free Speech For People, representing Michigan voters, had argued that Trump should be disqualified from the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars those who engaged in insurrection or rebellion from holding federal office. However, the Court of Appeals said the challenge was "not ripe" procedurally and did not rule on whether Trump specifically fell under the 14th Amendment clause. The court said determining if Trump was disqualified was irrelevant to his placement on the primary ballot at this time.
