UN climate change delegates agree to cut reliance on fossil fuels
Nearly 200 countries pledged to reduce reliance on fossil fuels in a historic move during UN climate talks on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 (Thursday in Manila) though concerns about the deal's limitations persist. Despite being stronger than an earlier draft, the agreement falls short of demanding a complete phaseout of oil, gas, and coal, providing nations with considerable flexibility in their transition away from these fuels.
