Pope Francis makes first public appearance after being stricken with bronchitis

Pope Francis, recovering from bronchitis that prevented him from attending the climate change summit in Dubai, made his first outdoor appearance at the Spanish Steps on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 to pray for those affected by injustice, poverty, and conflicts. He made special mention of the Ukrainian situation and the violence between Palestinians and Israelis. The pontiff blessed the crowd as he emphasized compassion for those facing adversity.
