Workers at Ford, Stellantis, and GM overwhelmingly ratified new union contracts that will raise wages across the auto industry. The UAW union negotiated new 4-year contracts with Ford, Stellantis, and GM through 2028, ending a contentious labor dispute and strikes over the summer and fall. The contracts will increase pay for entry-level and top-scale auto assembly workers by around 33% over the lifetime of the contracts through raises and cost-of-living adjustments. Top workers will make around $42/hour by 2028. The contracts also standardized wages among workers instead of different tiers, and agreed to bring new electric vehicle battery plants under the national contracts.
