Stellantis plans to produce an electric Ram 1500 pickup truck called the Ram 1500 Ramcharger that will include an onboard 3.6-liter V6 gas engine and electric generator. The Ramcharger can operate as a zero-emissions electric vehicle until its battery dies, at which point the gas engine will power the electric generator to charge the battery and propel the truck, allowing for a total estimated range of up to 690 miles. This extended-range capability is meant to address range anxiety that potential electric truck buyers may have, especially for towing purposes. It will join an all-electric Ram 1500 pickup in late 2024 and replace the current Ram 1500's Hemi V8 engine with a new twin-turbo inline-6 gasoline engine.
