दिल्ली के लाल किला ग्राउंड में 24 अक्टूबर की शाम दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल श्री विनय कुमार सक्सेना, मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल और बॉलीवुड स्टार कंगना रनौत ने तीर चला कर रावण, कुंभकरण और मेघनाथ के पुतलों का दहन किया. ये इस कार्यक्रम के 50 सालों के इतिहास में पहली बार हुआ कि किसी महिला ने रावण के पुतले का दहन किया. सरकार द्वारा पटाखों और आतिशबाजी पर बैन होने की वजह से समारोह में 8 ट्रैक डिजिटल डॉल्बी साउंड सिस्टम की मदद से आतिशबाजी की गई. बॉलीवुड स्टार कंगना रनौत को देखने का क्रेज इस कदर था कि पुलिस के साथ लीला कमेटी की और से 140 बाउंसर तैनात किए गए थे.

On the evening of 24 October, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut burnt the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath by shooting arrows at the Red Fort Ground in Delhi. This was the first time in the 50-year history of this program that a woman burnt the effigy of Ravana. Due to the government ban on firecrackers and fireworks, the fireworks were done with the help of 8 track digital Dolby sound system.
