Glasgow headlines 11 October: Patients die after doctor fails to give follow up care

Three people passed away after having colonoscopies because a doctor failed to give appropriate follow-up care, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has revealed.

Six patients were affected between 2020 and 2022 and a male consultant was suspended but resigned before disciplinary proceedings began.

The health board has apologised to all those involved.

Next, a fire at Luton Airport has led to multiple flights being cancelled from Glasgow.

A newly-built airport car park caught flames with a number of staff taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.

The incident has affected flight routes throughout the country.

And in other news, Halifax has announced it will be closing its only Glasgow City Centre branch early next year.

It will leave an empty unit on Sauchiehall Street next to other vacant sites such as M&S, BHS and Watt Brothers.

The bank said they are looking for new ways to communicate with customers.
