National Curry week takes place from October 2-8 and this year is the 25th year celebrating the tasty dish.
Manchester is well known for its range of cuisine in the city centre and beyond, and there is one place in the city-region which is synonymous with south Asian food - the curry mile.
A stretch of Wilmslow Road in Rusholme is home to some of the best and older Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants in Manchester.
The restaurants started opening in the 50s and 60s as south Asian immigrants arrived in Manchester to work in the city's textile industry.
The curry mile is well-known to people around the region and the term was established in the 1980s.
Manchester is also home to many other restaurants, and the city centre has chain restaurants such as Dishoom, a place which has become very popular in recent years after a site opened here in 2018.
