This is the moment a brazen thief was spotted and caught by a news camera crew - as they interviewed the shopkeeper about shoplifting.

ITV News had been speaking to Ben Selvaratnam, owner of a convenience store in Croydon, south London, when a man in a hooded coat walks past them carrying two bottles of alcohol he hadn't paid for, heading straight for the exit.

As the camera crew alerts Mr Selvaratnam to the shoplifter while he's speaking, he pauses to stop the man, who insisted 'I was going to pay', before handing over the two bottles and leaving empty-handed. (Credit: ITV News)
