Tech startup Neuralink, co-founded by Elon Musk, has received FDA approval to begin its first clinical trial implanting brain chips into humans. Neuralink has developed a surgical robot to implant the brain chip, which uses ultra-thin threads to connect to the brain and transmit signals wirelessly to a brain-computer interface. The trial aims to evaluate the safety and functionality of the brain-computer interface software, to allow paralyzed individuals to control a computer using their thoughts.
