As the US government works to promote the use of electric vehicles, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm encountered a problem that has been all too common for EV owners—a lack of charging spots. On a road trip to promote electric vehicles, Granholm and her team discovered that there weren't enough chargers to accommodate all of their EVs. To make matters worse, an employee had to use a gas-powered car to occupy one of the charging spots. This incident highlights the importance of improved EV infrastructure, as the US currently has a shortage of charging ports.
