Shocking new footage of a XL Bully rampage in Birmingham has emerged showing how it attacked multiple others as brave members of the public tried to intervene.

An 11-year-old girl was savaged by the out-of-control hound after it got loose from its owner in Bordesley Green on Saturday afternoon (9/9).

Police said two men who tried to help were also attacked and injured as the horror unfolded along the busy street and a petrol station forecourt.

Harrowing new CCTV from the Texaco garage now shows how the sustained attack lasted for more than two minutes with the dog attacking multiple people.

While several people can be seen fleeing the scene, others stayed behind and courageously tried to being the animal under control.

The video shows how onlookers tried to hit the snarling mutt with a spade and a broom while one man even tried squirting it with petrol.

The frenzied attack, which left the girl and two men hospitalised, has since prompted calls from the Home Secretary to ban the controversial breed.

One of the victims was Yousef Ahadzai, who works at the Euro Carwash next to petrol station, who was bitten on the leg.

Yousef, who spoke in Pashto and had his words translated by a friend, said. "I was scared, the dog bit me. The dog was out of control, it went crazy.

"I saw the girl be attacked, she was bitten. I saw the dog and I came out. I was really scared."

His friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said Yousef was going to the GP as he was worried the wound get infected following the attack by the "crazy" dog.

West Midlands Police said the owner of the animal has since been spoken to by officers and the dog remains in secure kennels.

A force spokesperson said: "We're investigating after three people were bitten by a dog in Birmingham yesterday (9 September).

"An 11-year-old girl ran past the dog as it was being walked by its owner in Bordesley Green, when she was bitten.

"Two men intervened but were bitten and left with injuries to their shoulders and arms.

"They were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

"The dog was initially taken to a local vet to be checked over before being taken into secure kennels while the investigation continues.

"The owner of the dog has been spoken to by officers.

"Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via Live Chat quoting log 3245 of 9/9."

The Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she is seeking "urgent advice" on banning "lethal" American bully XL dogs.

She tweeted: “The American XL bully is a clear and lethal danger to our communities, particularly to children.

"We can’t go on like this. I have commissioned urgent advice on banning them.”
