It was a long haul to rescue a badger that plunged through a manhole cover at a school.

The foraging animal had fallen eight feet into the bottom of the hole and was found by gardeners at Edgeborough School in Frensham, Surrey.

They called the RSPCA who had the tricky task of lassoing the animal behind its front paws and hauling it up into a cage.
