A 23-year-old bus driver has died in a Glasgow hospital days after being involved in a collision on the A77.

Gordon Stirling was driving a Stagecoach bus which crashed into a white Ford transit van on 14 August.

Police confirmed that Stirling’s injuries proved fatal while the van driver remains in hospital in a stable condition.


Next up, almost 200 people have lost their jobs as a construction and plant hire company based in Barrhead has fell into administration.

Allma Construction and Centre Plant, which has been operating since 1991, announced that 181 employees have been made redundant after the company experienced a sharp downturn in activity.


And finally, a West Lothian pipers group were crowned winners of the World Pipe Band Championships following a two-day contest at Glasgow Green.

The competition, which brought more than 35,000 spectators to the park, saw the People’s Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band earn their first World Champions title.
