Six months after introducing an AI-powered version of Bing in February with hopes of gaining market share from Google, Bing's market share remains largely unchanged, hovering at 3% worldwide. While Microsoft considers the new Bing a success, outside data sources suggest minimal growth in its user base, reaching around 1% of Google's monthly visitors. The AI chat feature, which provides conversational answers, has helped boost Bing's user base by 10% to 98 million, yet it pales compared to Google's 1.12 billion users. Microsoft claims its internal data show Bing gaining market share, particularly in mobile searches and Edge browser usage. However, critics point out that Bing's AI chat features were initially limited to the Edge browser, limiting its reach. Microsoft plans to expand these features to other browsers.
