Former CEO of FTX, a now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried, moved from house arrest in the Bahamas to Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. The facility is known for its challenging living conditions and has been described as "one of the most troubled" in the Bureau of Prisons. During his time in the detention center, Bankman-Fried will have limited access to food, losing the ability to purchase his preferred peanut butter. He will also lose internet access, a stark contrast to his time under house arrest, where he could freely browse the web. He must adjust to the prison's strict routine and may be assigned a job. Bankman-Fried's transfer follows a finding by U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan that there was probable cause to believe he tried to tamper with witnesses by interacting with the media during his house arrest. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
