Thousands of Flights , Affected by Severe Storms.
On Aug. 8, over 300 flights were canceled
and more than 900 were delayed after
severe storms pummeled the eastern U.S.
the day before, CNN reports. .
1,600 flights were canceled
and 8,200 were delayed on Aug. 7. .
LaGuardia Airport in New York
has been the most impacted.
20 flights have been canceled,
while 11 have been delayed.
Airports have also been affected in
Atlanta, Newark and Boston.
After the severe storms hit the region on Aug. 7, close to 400,000 homes and businesses lost power. .
At least two people have been killed, CNN reports.
In addition to the weather,
staffing shortages have been
causing issues for airlines.
On Aug. 7, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that a limited number of New York flights are able to travel north through Canada due to "staffing issues."
