‘Barbie’ joins $1 billion club, breaks female directors' record
Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" outstrips $1 billion in global ticket sales in just three weeks, breaking the record for female directors previously held by Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman." The film, directed and co-written by Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, is now the highest-grossing movie directed by a woman, and it also claimed the North American record for live-action movies directed by women. Despite new competition, "Barbie" continues to dominate the box office and has exceeded expectations, contributing to a successful summer movie season.
