Birmingham headlines 17 July: Dangerous city centre building gets West Midlands Fire Service aid
A dangerous building in Birmingham city centre is getting aid from West Midlands Fire Service. Fire Service crews are working to ensure that the building on New Street is safe. The building is 102 New Street where Superdrug and Bella Italia are located.

Train journeys will face disruption this week as rail workers refuse to work overtime. ASLEF, the train drivers' union, which represents 16 of the country's 35 rail operators, announced last month that its members would withdraw non-contractual overtime.

Around 100 security officers and terminal technicians employed by Birmingham Airport will be starting an all out continuous strike action from July 18. The action is likely to affect holidaymakers starting next week. Unite the Union said the workers are striking after facing two years of substantial pay cuts.
